Who enjoys working out outdoors?! We def do! It’s always nice to get a change of scenery, soak up some vitamin D, and take in the fresh air. But when it comes to working out or even sweating it out with Mother Nature, we still have to take precautions to make sure we’re taking good care of our bodies from the inside and outside. We’re sharing our own best tips for working out outdoors when the weather is warm to hot hot hot! Read up on em below:
•Protect your Skin: Always wear sunscreen. Those harmful sunrays are just as strong whether you’re tanning or going for a walk. Protect your skin & slow the development of wrinkles and aging! – another benefit to wear it! We love using SunBum! It goes on smooth and smells so good! Bonus* Wearing a hat outdoors also protects your skin, eyes, and hair from the sun!
•Hydrate: especially if you plan on getting a sweat sesh outdoors! The hotter it is, the more you sweat! It’s important to replace the electrolytes that you’ll lose through sweating in order to prevent dehydration, muscle cramps, dizziness, headaches, etc. A great product to add to you water before you workout is the brand Liquid IV hydrating multiplier packets so you’re body is well hydrated before you begin you workout!
•Wear the Right Gear: when it’s a hot day, wear light fitted materials. You want your clothes to be breathable, meaning the material allows moisture to pass through. Material like cotton makes it harder for your sweat to evaporate from your skin through the fabric. Clothing made with moisture-wicking is ideal because the fabric pulls moisture away from the skin, and draws it to the outer surface of the garment, making it easier to evaporate your sweat, thus keeping you cool.
•Music or Podcast: listening to a great heart pumping playlist while you’re getting your workout on is a must for us! We created a summer playlist in our highlights packed full of upbeat jams and tropical vibes! Or sometimes we like to listen to a podcast and just get out and go for a walk! Some of our favorites are “Call Her Daddy”, “The Bella’s Podcast,” and “Creepy Caffeine.”
•Stretch it out: Always stretch before and after a workout! Even if it’s just 5-10 minutes. Stretching increases your athletic performance by loosening your muscles and tendons thus increasing flexibility and range of motion during your workout. Muscles that are tight are more prone to injury or can be easier to tweak and end up causing you pain! Stretching is also good for the mind – it helps you relax and wind down after a solid workout.
